Pumpkins for kids

pumpkin pick up [ [link removed] ]

Oswego families can stop by Venue 1012 to pick up a free pumpkin [ [link removed] ] on Sunday, October 16 from noon to 3 p.m. Children (and adults) are encouraged to come in costume.

Venue 1012 will have a variety of autumnal displays set up for photo opportunities.

First come, first served. Limited to one pumpkin per child. 500 pumpkins will be distributed until 3 p.m. or until they run out. Oswego residents only--proof of residency required.

Trick-or-treat hours

The Village's recommended trick-or treating hours [ [link removed] ] for Halloween, Monday, October 31, are 3:30 to 8 p.m. 

If you choose not to participate in handing out treats, please turn off your porch light.

Listen to live music while you taste from more than 20 varieties of wine and seasonal craft beer from Oswego Brewing Co. at Wine Off the Fox [ [link removed] ] presented by Xfinity on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Venue 1012. 

Girl bands Jersey Girls and Serendipity will perform at the new event to help raise awareness and benefit organizations that provide breast cancer services and support. 

Bring your own picnic or pre-order a charcuterie board [ [link removed] ] from Fancy Nancy's Boards when you purchase a ticket. Local food vendors will be onsite. 

Advance tickets range from $70 for VIP to $20 general admission. Buy early for the most tasting opportunities at the best value.

Shred old documents on October 15

Free shred event with police logo shredded paper [ [link removed] ]

The Police Department and First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) will host a free shred event [ [link removed] ] on *Saturday, October 15* from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Public Works facility, 100 Theodore Drive. 

Boxes of paper will be accepted until the shred trucks are full, or 1 p.m., whichever comes first. A maximum of three large file boxes are allowed per vehicle.

Free brush/leaf/waste collections

The Village's final free brush collection [ [link removed] ] begins October 10 in Zone B. Find your zone with the Brush Zone Collection Map [ [link removed] ].

Free curbside leaf collection [ [link removed] ] will start Monday, October 19 in Zone A and B, and October 24 in Zone C. Look up your zone [ [link removed] ] and prepare your leaves with these guidelines [ [link removed] ] Note: Brush collection zones differ from leaf zones. 

In addition, Groot will provide a free fall clean up collection [ [link removed] ] the week of November 14 on your regularly scheduled garbage day. Larger items such as furniture may be placed with your waste and recycling.  

Plus, an additional free yard waste collection [ [link removed] ] has been added the week of December 5. Only yard waste in Kraft bags will be accepted.

Volunteer for breast cancer benefit

Railroad crossing repair

The downtown railroad crossing at Adams near the intersection of Jackson will be closed for repairs for two days starting Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 a.m. 

The railroad crossing at Adams and Washington will remain open.
