Tim Walz has failed every Minnesotan in fulfilling the most important job of an elected official: ensuring public safety. The men and women who protect our communities daily understand this, and that’s why they are supporting my candidacy. I’m honored to have the endorsement of the MPPOA and police officers across our state. When we win on November 8th, we’ll immediately work together to bring safe streets back to our neighborhoods. Violent crime has increased 36% ([link removed]) in Minnesota since 2018, the year Governor Walz was elected. Also, for the first time in recent history, Minnesota’s violent crime rate is higher than the national average. ([link removed]) Further, from the year prior to Tim Walz taking office until the most recent crime report data, the following has occurred in Minnesota: ([link removed])
* Murders have increased 93%, from 104 to 201.
* There were 779 carjackings in 2021, the first year that data was recorded. They are counted separately from motor vehicle thefts. Carjackings weren't previously reported as a separate statistic because they were so rare.
* Aggravated assaults have increased 63%, from 6,693 to 10,967.
* Motor vehicle thefts have increased 47%, from 10,082 to 14,829, which is the highest number recorded in two decades in our state.
* Robberies have increased 35%, from 2,943 to 3,991.

We need new leadership in Minnesota - and I'm proud to have the backing of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association. Together, and with them by our side, we will Heal Minnesota from the failed policies of Tim Walz.
