Tim Walz has failed every Minnesotan in fulfilling the most important job of an elected official: ensuring public safety. The men and women who protect our communities daily understand this, and thatās why they are supporting my candidacy. Violent crime hasĀ increased 36%Ā in Minnesota since 2018, the year Governor Walz was elected. Also, for the first time in recent history, Minnesotaās violent crime rate isĀ higher than the national average.Ā Further, from the year prior to Tim Walz taking office until the most recent crime report data, theĀ following has occurred in Minnesota:
- Murders haveĀ increased 93%,Ā from 104 to 201.
- There wereĀ 779 carjackings in 2021, the first year that data was recorded. They are counted separately from motor vehicle thefts.Ā Carjackings weren't previously reported as a separate statistic because they were so rare.
- Ā Aggravated assaults haveĀ increased 63%,Ā from 6,693 to 10,967.
- Motor vehicle thefts haveĀ increased 47%,Ā from 10,082 to 14,829, which is theĀ highest number recorded in two decades in our state.
- Robberies haveĀ increased 35%,Ā from 2,943 to 3,991.
We need new leadership in Minnesota - and I'm proud to have the backing of theĀ Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association. Together, and with them by our side, we will Heal Minnesota from the failed policies of Tim Walz.
