It is the night that Jews begin their observance of the holiest day of the year - Yom Kippur. On this special Day of Atonement, a day of prayer, fasting, and repentance, we have the opportunity to reflect on our lives over the past year, to reconcile past differences with others and to commit ourselves to renew our lives for the coming year with purpose, good works and love for each other. As the Jewish Community gathers in synagogues let us all, as Nutmeggers and Americans, consider what each of us might do to strengthen our own families, our own communities, and our nation to help make this world a better place.
