A Blessed and Meaningful Yom Kippur
and an Easy Fast
Tonight is Kol Nidre for Jews around the world. It is the night that Jews begin their observance of the holiest day of the year - Yom Kippur. On this special Day of Atonement, a day of prayer, fasting, and repentance, we have the opportunity to reflect on our lives over the past year, to reconcile past differences with others and to commit ourselves to renew our lives for the coming year with purpose, good works and love for each other.
As the Jewish Community gathers in synagogues let us all, as Nutmeggers and Americans, consider what each of us might do to strengthen our own families, our own communities, and our nation to help make this world a better place.
On this Holy Day of Atonement, may we be provided an opportunity to draw nearer to God through the practice of “teshuva,” which means repentance, in accordance with the words of Leviticus: “For on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall ye be clean before the Lord.”
As a proud American Jewish woman, I send my best wishes for a meaningful Yom Kippur and a G’mar Chatima Tova. “May you be inscribed in the Book of Life for a good closing seal.” 455022
