Friends,

If you're like me, you've been feeling hopeless and heartbroken about the treatment of asylum seekers. We need to fight for them—and today's the day to do it, with big protests starting at noon. See our Solidarity section below to learn more.

The connections between immigration and the climate crisis are undeniable. As climate change worsens, we will confront a migration crisis unlike anything we've seen before. When the road gets rocky, we need to keep a tight grip on our humanity and never, ever let it go.

In solidarity,

Rosemary Mosco

** TODAY: Online Meeting with Updates on the Sept 20 Global Climate Strike
------------------------------------------------------------

School strikers are calling on everyone—young people, parents, workers, and all concerned citizens—to join massive climate strikes and a week of actions starting on September 20. Take the pledge to attend here ([link removed]) and join the open call tonight at 7 pm ([link removed]) with other 350 Mass members to learn more!

** Other 350 Mass News
------------------------------------------------------------

Horribles Parades: Come join 350 Mass-North Shore at the Horribles parades in Gloucester (Wed, Jul 3, 6 pm), Beverly Farms (Thu, Jul 4, 8:30 am) and/or Rockport (Thu, Jul 4, 6 pm) to ask your neighbors, "Which world do you want?" Silly climate-related costumes and signs encouraged! Or just come amble with your favorite environmental activists.

Breaking Down the Walls—Panel on the Intersectionality of Climate, Migration, Housing, and Peace:
Massachusetts Peace Action, Better Future Project, Boston Mayday Coalition, Encuentro 5, City Mission, and Biodiversity for a Livable Climate are cosponsoring and will present their perspectives. Thu, Jul 18, 6:30-8:30 pm, Encuentro 5, 9 Hamilton Pl, Boston.

Sign the Petition to Bring Green Energy to Lowell: Let’s bring green energy to Lowell through Community Choice Aggregation! Lowell hires a bulk buyer of electricity for all residents and businesses. This is the energy supplier we see on our National Grid bill, unless we opt out. Right now it’s all dirty energy except for the minimum the State requires (just 14%). We can do better! Tell the City Council: Lowell’s electricity should be green! Sign the petition here. ([link removed])

Write a Letter to the Editor: 350 Mass members write lots of letters to the editor, many of which get published! Here are some recent letters:
* Fall River Herald: Don’t remove incentives to encourage electric car industry ([link removed])
* Boston Globe: 2030 is fast approaching, so 2021 can’t come fast enough ([link removed])
* The Salem News: Don't open HOV lanes ([link removed])

** Other Climate Movement News
------------------------------------------------------------

Weekly Protest Against The Weymouth Compressor Station: Members of Occupy Hingham, a long-time supporter of FRRACS, hold signs every Wednesday afternoon in North Weymouth to help spread the word about the compressor station. They need more sign holders! Signs are provided. Learn more here. ([link removed]) Wed, Jul 3, 3-4 pm (special time prior to Weymouth fireworks), at the foot of the Fore River Bridge on the Weymouth side (55 Bridge St, Weymouth).

Petition to Holyoke Gas & Electric—Stop the Pipeline:
Holyoke Gas & Electric has been a clean energy leader, but they've also entered into agreements on two natural gas pipelines. They have an upcoming opportunity to terminate these agreements with no financial penalty, and they need to hear from their ratepayers that business as usual is not acceptable! Learn more and sign the petition here. ([link removed])

** Solidarity Opportunities

TODAY—Circle on Self Determination: Centering the multidimensional aspect of poverty in the United States, this workshop will introduce language to help articulate the lived experiences of Native Americans in New England, then discuss local solutions implemented by communities. See the Facebook event. ([link removed]) Tue, Jul 2, 6-8:30 pm, North American Indian Center Of Boston, 105 South Huntington Ave, Jamaica Plain.
