6. VA Students Walk Out Against Youngkin's Anti-Trans Policy
Gen-Z will not take transphobia lying down. Hundreds of students walked out of their classrooms [[link removed]] in protest of Gov. Youngkin's new anti-trans policy [[link removed]] that would require trans students to use wrong locker rooms and bathrooms, restrict trans students’ ability to play sports, and increase parental notification.
“When Barbara Johns walked out, people told her she should have stayed put too. Student voices matter and #Virginia students today are following in her footsteps,” said Danica Roem [[link removed]] , who is running to be the first out transgender state senator ever elected in Virginia.
