There is no way to say this except to say we need your help.
We never send "Our back is up against the wall!" emails, because we don't
like them. We prefer to focus on the issues that matter to all of us.
Issues like abortion. Democracy. Climate change. An economy that works for
all of us. Anti-racism. LGBTQ+ rights. And guns.
But today, to be blunt, we do need your help. MoveOn is over half a
million dollars behind our 2022 fundraising goal, with only 39 days left
until the polls close.
$630,000 to be exact. And for us, $630,000 is a LOT of money. Not having
it will force tough decisions in the final days of this election. That is
why we are making this unusual request.

John, we truly need you to dig as deep as you can today. We
simply have to make up this deficit, or all our plans will have to be
pulled back. All the planning and targeting lost because we were unable to
execute what was to be our largest investment ever in a midterm election.
We made a promise to invest $30 million in this midterm election to
protect so much of what we have accomplished and to push for so much more.
And candidates across this country are sticking their necks out to do
exactly that. Black and brown candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates, Muslim and
Jewish candidates, disabled candidates, candidates from every walk of life
who are putting it all on the line to save our country from Trump and his
cronies.
We need to keep that promise in order to preserve our democracy. To
protect abortion rights. To ensure college is affordable for everybody, no
matter their income. To keep our planet from melting and the waters from
rising. To preserve all the gains we have made.
That's why we need to catch up. We must catch up. And we are asking you to

behind as we head into the most important phase of the midterm elections.

It's not just MoveOn. Since President Joe Biden took office, donations to
progressive groups have plummeted as we all tried to recover from the lies
and nonstop chaos of the Trump years. But the truth is, that threat is not
over. Far from it. And if this trend continues, we could be opening the
door for the GOP's neofascist authoritarianism to take over our country.
Authoritarianism that will rip away the right to vote from millions of
Americans, particularly Black, brown, Indigenous, poor, and young voters.
Authoritarianism that will destroy our democratic institutions.
Authoritarianism that will strip bodily autonomy away from even more
women, trans, and nonbinary people.
The threat is real, and it is urgent, but together, we can defeat these
forces to protect our democracy.
