Lung Cancer Researchers Making Breakthroughs
Lixing Yang, Ph.D
Project: Discovering Genetic Mutations in Lung Cancer in People Who Never Smoked
Dr. Yang’s research is focused on lung cancer in individuals who have never smoked in their lifetime (never smokers). As many as a quarter of lung cancers occur in never smokers, however, the causes are largely unknown. Dr. Yang expects to find novel drug targets and improve patient care for never smokers.
Alfonso Bellacosa, M.D., M.H.S
Project: Improving Response Rates of Immunotherapy for Lung Cancer
Dr. Bellacosa’s research is dedicated to improving response rates of immunotherapy for lung cancer patients. Currently, only one-third of lung cancer patients respond to immunotherapy treatments, but his research may have found a new way to help non‑responders.
Their findings, made possible by donors like you, will have a long-lasting impact on the treatment of lung cancer.
