With government funding about to run out on Oct. 1, Congress is poised to pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR) <[link removed]> that will extend the current level of government spending until December 16. If passed, this CR will expire just after the midterm elections but before the newly elected Congress takes their seats.

This period of time is called a “lame-duck” Congress. It’s after the election but before the new Congress is sworn in. And historically, lame duck spending bills are a bad deal. That’s why the new December 16 deadline is so troubling.

Conservatives <[link removed]> should reject lame-duck legislating, and should push for the new Congress in 2023 to set the spending and policy agenda for the year ahead.
Democrats will try to use the December 16 spending deadline to pass a massive “omnibus” spending bill that funds Biden’s leftist agenda well into 2023.

Voters are set to reject Biden’s inflation agenda in November. It’s very likely that Nancy Pelosi will lose her majority. So it would be a complete rejection of the Democratic process for her to continue Biden’s failed agenda on her way out of town.

This CR must be fought so that Congress is not given the chance to legislate on their way out.
