John — It’s no secret that abortion rights are on the ballot this November. But what may not be so obvious is the fact that just a small number of seats in each state could “represent the tipping point,” as Politico put it in a recent article:
[Politico quote graphic: "THESE WAY-DOWN-BALLOT RACES WILL DECIDE WHETHER ABORTION IS LEGAL FOR MILLIONS"
"A handful of state legislative seats in a few states represent the tipping point for new restrictions or bans on abortion."
Pitch in to help the NDRC elect pro-democracy candidates across the country>>[link removed]]
That’s why the NDRC has been hard at work investing in down-ballot races all over the country that will determine the future of abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, and our democracy itself. Here’s what we’re doing in the run-up to Election Day:
➞ Working in 17 target states to protect access to the ballot and stop extremist GOP candidates who want to roll back our rights
➞ Supporting 313 Democracy Defenders up and down the ballot who will do everything in their power to defend our rights
➞ Thwarting GOP efforts to corrupt the pool of election workers and cause chaos at the polls
This model has led us to tremendous success in the past: In the 2020 redistricting cycle, it helped produce some of the fairest maps in a generation. So with the stakes of this year’s midterms higher than ever before in our lifetimes, it’s critical that we double down on our work.
And John, we’re counting on the support of this grassroots team to do it. So if you can, please don’t wait. Pitch in any amount today to help us keep up our fight to DEFEND our democracy:
