Senator Lindsey Graham has introduced a federal abortion ban, which infringes on the privacy of a medical decision that should be between a woman and her doctor.

This is a clear signal that the GOP will outlaw access to safe and legal abortion if they retake the majority this November.

Just a few months ago, Republicans applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade , saying reproductive rights should be left up to the states. Now Senate Republicans are openly admitting they want to pass federal legislation to ban abortions – Graham himself went on Fox News to declare that abortion “is not a states’ rights issue.”

The answer is obvious: It’s never been about states’ rights. It’s always been about controlling women — our reproductive rights and our economic security.
