International Rescue Committee | Sambusas | San Diego | Get the Recipe
Friend, I sure hope you love food!
Because at the IRC, sharing our clients' recipes has become one of our favorite ways to say thank you for being part of our community of IRC supporters. Supporting the IRC empowers refugees all over the world and in the U.S. like Khalida (pictured above).
Like many refugees around the world, Khalida finds that food reconnects her to home. Her sambusas are more than just a popular street food in Afghanistan — they're a reminder of where she came from.
And today, she generously agreed to share her special 20-year-old recipe with IRC supporters like you. Get the recipe now and let your mouth water — you can almost smell the sambusas through your screens » [link removed]

Thanks to the supporters like you, Khalida and her family could be resettled by the IRC office in San Diego. There, she participated in many trainings offered by the office to help her obtain her childcare license, her driver's license and citizenship.
She also attended other professional trainings in food operations and business so that she can share her love for food with others.

All you need to get started is some flour, ground meat of choice, potatoes and some spices. But before you rush off to preheat your frying pan, I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you:
Friend, because you choose to stand with refugees and people affected by conflict and disaster, we can help them survive, recover and rebuild their lives.
And for that, we at the IRC will always be grateful.
Bon Appétit!
