John, I sure hope you loveĀ food!
Because at the IRC, sharing our clients' recipes has become one of our favorite ways to say thank you for being part of our community of IRC supporters. Supporting the IRC empowers refugees all over the world and in the U.S. like Khalida (picturedĀ above).
Like many refugees around the world, Khalida finds that food reconnects her to home. Her sambusas are more than just a popular street food in Afghanistan ā they're a reminder of where she cameĀ from.
And today, she generously agreed to share her special 20-year-old recipe with IRC supporters like you. Get the recipe now and let your mouth water ā you can almost smell the sambusas through your screensĀ Ā»

Thanks to supporters like you, Khalida and her family could be resettled by the IRC office in San Diego. There, she participated in many trainings offered by the office to help her obtain her childcare license, her driver's license andĀ citizenship.
She also attended other professional trainings in food operations and business so that she can share her love for food withĀ others. |

"I feel a lot happier while cooking, because it rekindles my past years and my memories," she says. "It is as if I haven't grown up. I feel the same energy I had when I wasĀ younger." |
