TThree weeks before Donald Trump was elected President, my life fundamentally changed. I was diagnosed with ALS.

Since then, I have become almost completely paralyzed. I now depend upon incredible caregivers to keep me safe and comfortable -- and I depend on machines to move, breathe, and communicate.

After my diagnosis, I had to decide how to make the most of my remaining time. We founded Be a Hero, a people-powered organization that takes on the fight for Medicare for All and lifts up the voices of American heroes who stand up to big money interests and powerful politicians like Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins.

When I think about my legacy, I hope that the people in my life remember me as someone who advanced the cause of justice -- and I am determined to use every single day I have to make real, lasting change in the world.

That's why I'm supporting Elizabeth. I believe that she has the skills, the temperament, the knowledge, and the electability to lead us toward a more just and equitable future.

I've known Elizabeth for years, and I've seen up close how she confronts a problem. She listens to the people most affected, she does her homework, and then she comes up with a thoughtful, resonant, and achievable plan.

She has correctly diagnosed what's wrong with Washington -- its embrace of corruption -- and she's not afraid to call it out and fight back against it.

This is a profound and poignant moment for our country. In 2020, we face a battle for the future of our democracy and our planet. Right now, we're at a crossroads. Is the soul of the Democratic Party held by the people -- achieving universal health care under Elizabeth's Medicare for All plan -- or will it be corrupted by those in the corporate establishment who will say and do anything they can to grab power?

I'm choosing to believe in the people -- I'm choosing to believe in Elizabeth and in the strength of this grassroots movement that we're all building together.
