Three weeks before Donald Trump was elected President, my life fundamentally changed. I was diagnosed with ALS.

Since then, I have become almost completely paralyzed. I now depend upon incredible caregivers to keep me safe and comfortable — and I depend on machines to move, breathe, and communicate.

After my diagnosis, I had to decide how to make the most of my remaining time. We founded Be a Hero, a people-powered organization that takes on the fight for Medicare for All and lifts up the voices of American heroes who stand up to big money interests and powerful politicians like Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins.

When I think about my legacy, I hope that the people in my life remember me as someone who advanced the cause of justice — and I am determined to use every single day I have to make real, lasting change in the world.

That’s why I’m supporting Elizabeth. I believe that she has the skills, the temperament, the knowledge, and the electability to lead us toward a more just and equitable future.
