September 11 is a hard day for New Yorkers.

Twenty-one years ago, our city, our nation, was attacked, taking thousands of lives too soon. Today, I’m commemorating that day by ensuring our first responders get the benefits they deserve and have been fighting for every day.

We, as a city, will never forget that day nor the bravery and sacrifice of the citizens, first responders, and their families whose lives have been permanently changed.

I’m so proud that my friend Gov. Hochul just signed legislation to support 9/11 victims, first responders, AND their loved ones. Not just one, but these five pieces of legislation provide funds and support for everything from loss of work to emotional damage and more.

It’s the least we can do for those brave souls and their families. Today, please join me in honoring and remembering those who gave so much for us.
