It’s been a long time coming, Jack.
A New Mexico judge just ordered Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin be removed from office, effective immediately, due to his participation in the insurrection.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, also known as the Disqualification Clause, bars any person from holding federal or state office who took an “oath...to support the Constitution of the United States” then engaged in an insurrection or gave aid and comfort to insurrectionists. This decision marks the first time since 1869 that a court has disqualified a public official under Section 3, and the first time that any court has ruled the events of January 6, 2021 an insurrection.
Couy's part in the insurrection, pushing election disinformation, and promoting violence towards election officials has left a stain on our democracy. My opponent says he's "one of our best," because she's cut from the same cloth. Will you rush a $25 donation right now to help me keep these anti-democracy candidates out of office?

This behavior and lack of respect for our democracy does not stop with Couy Griffin. My opponent is one of several Secretary of State nominees running on a platform to restrict voting rights, upend our election system, and take power away from the people of our state. As long as I am Secretary of State, I won’t let that happen.
When I say democracy is on the ballot this November, I mean it. The stakes are too high to take anything for granted. Chip in $25 or whatever you can today to make sure New Mexico’s elections don’t fall into the wrong hands in November →
This election is about protecting access to the ballot box. It’s about the freedom to choose our leaders. It’s about embracing truth over fiction. This Election Day is about our democracy.
Thank you,
Maggie Toulouse Oliver
