URGENT: A New Mexico judge just ordered Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin – who refused to certify our primary election results – be removed from office for participating in the insurrection.
It’s been a long time coming, Jack.
A New Mexico judge just ordered Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin be removed from office, effective immediately, due to his participation in the insurrection.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, also known as the Disqualification Clause, bars any person from holding federal or state office who took an “oath...to support the Constitution of the United States” then engaged in an insurrection or gave aid and comfort to insurrectionists. This decision marks the first time since 1869 that a court has disqualified a public official under Section 3, and the first time that any court has ruled the events of January 6, 2021, an insurrection.

This behavior and lack of respect for our democracy does not stop with Couy Griffin. My opponent is one of several Secretary of State nominees running on a platform to restrict voting rights, upend our election system, and take power away from the people of our state. As long as I am Secretary of State, I won’t let that happen.
This election is about protecting access to the ballot box. It’s about the freedom to choose our leaders. It’s about embracing truth over fiction. This Election Day is about our democracy.
Thank you,
