ACTION ALERT: Last Week To Tell EPA To Defend Bristol Bay!

Dear John,

For more than two decades, Tribes, Alaskan communities, and commercial fishermen have lived under the shadow of Pebble Mine.

If built near Bristol Bay, this open-pit mine would produce up to 10 billion tons of waste: a toxic soup that would remain on site and require treatment forever—right at the headwaters of the world's greatest wild salmon system.

As of today, we have just one week left to tell the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to use its authority under Section 404(c) of the Clean Water Act to end the Pebble Mine nightmare for good.

CAN YOU TELL EPA TO ENACT CLEAN WATER ACT PROTECTIONS FOR BRISTOL BAY?

You’ve likely commented before. But right now, your voice has never been more important. If EPA thinks that the world isn't still standing strong with Alaskans and Bristol Bay residents, this zombie mine could keep lurching forward, to the horror of all those whose way of life relies on the health and security of this pristine salmon system.

Here's what's at stake: this summer, 76+ million wild sockeye returned to Bristol Bay, shattering all previous records . This abundance supplies a staggering 50+ percent of the world's sockeye catch, driving a $2.2 billion annual fishery that provides more than 15,000 jobs. These wild runs also support subsistence fishing for 31 federally recognized Alaska Native tribes, sustaining a traditional way of life that has endured for thousands of years.

HELP US SECURE A FUTURE FOR BRISTOL BAY COMMUNITIES!

Bristol Bay communities need closure and certainty about their future. Your voice can help make that happen. If we all contact the EPA right now—if we rally for one last push—we can end the threat of Pebble Mine, and show the world what's possible when salmon lovers refuse to back down. Will you help us finish this long fight for Bristol Bay?

LET'S MAKE THIS PEBBLE'S LAST CHAPTER—RIGHT NOW
