Met With Uvalde CISD Superintendent to Discuss School Safety Measures On Monday morning, I met with Uvalde CISD superintendent, Dr. Hal Harrell, along with Uvalde Moving Forward Foundation Chairman, Mickey Gerdes. During our meeting, we discussed ways I can help further their priorities to ensure that parents and children feel safe as students return to classrooms this fall semester. Stopped by La Pryor ISD Monday afternoon, I traveled to La Pryor Elementary School where I had a great conversation with La Pryor ISD superintendent, Dr. William Arevalo, and school staff on how we can partner together to improve the federal grant process. I was excited to be able to spend time in the classrooms interacting with students and seeing some of the projects they have been working hard on. Discussed Infrastructure Needs in Carrizo Springs I traveled to Carrizo Springs City Hall where I met with the City Manager, Chris A. Castaneda. We discussed the city's infrastructure needs, and the ways my office can help in the process of applying for federal grants. I am thankful for the hard work of this community, and look forward to continuing working to meet their needs in Congress. Campus Improvement Plans for TAMU San Antonio I had the privilege of meeting with the Texas A&M San Antonio President, Dr. Cynthia Teniente Matson to learn more about her campus improvement plans. We discussed my efforts to secure nearly $2 million of federal funding for their Public Health & Genomics Research Center.
