Monday afternoon, I traveled to La Pryor Elementary School where I had a great conversation with La Pryor ISD superintendent, Dr. William Arevalo, and school staff on how we can partner together to improve the federal grant process. I was excited to be able to spend time in the classrooms interacting with students and seeing some of the projects they have been working hard on.

I traveled to Carrizo Springs City Hall where I met with the City Manager, Chris A. Castaneda. We discussed the city's infrastructure needs, and the ways my office can help in the process of applying for federal grants. I am thankful for the hard work of this community, and look forward to continuing working to meet their needs in Congress.

I had the privilege of meeting with the Texas A&M San Antonio President, Dr. Cynthia Teniente Matson to learn more about her campus improvement plans. We discussed my efforts to secure nearly $2 million of federal funding for their Public Health & Genomics Research Center. It is important that institutions of higher education have all the tools they need to succeed.
