There are serious due process concerns surrounding the government’s Institutional Hearing Program [[link removed]] (IHP).
The little-known program expedites the deportation of immigrants who are serving time for criminal offenses. A key problem with the IHP is that most noncitizens lack access to attorneys who can represent them in their deportation hearings. These cases often involve complex legal issues. Having a lawyer can make a difference for immigrants in the IHP.
