Government News Tudor Dixon Chooses Shane Hernandez as Running Mate Tudor Dixon, the Republican candidate for governor of Michigan, has officially announced Shane Hernandez as her pick for lieutenant governor. "Shane Hernandez as lieutenant governor will help to improve our schools, create safer communities, and improve our economy. Like me, Shane is concerned about the impact rising prices are having on our families," Dixon said. Hernandez, a husband and father of two, is a conservative Republican who supports personal liberties and limited government. "I am honored to run as Tudor's running mate to address the problems created by Gretchen Whitmer," Hernandez said. Click here to read more about this story. Religious Freedom Church Gets $300k in COVID Non-Compliance Fines Overturned On Monday, a California appeals court overturned $300,000 in fines on Calvary Chapel San Jose, a church that refused to comply with COVID regulations during California's shutdowns in 2020. This is a significant victory against government overreach and the violation of our religious freedoms as Americans. "I respect the judge and I respect what the law says, but there’s a bigger law." said Pastor Mike McClure. "You follow God or you follow man. I have to follow what God's word says." Abortion Update Michigan Judge Rules County Prosecutors Can't Enforce Abortion Ban On Friday, an Oakland County judge ruled that county prosecutors cannot enforce Michigan's 1931 abortion ban, a law that's been dormant for decades thanks to Roe v. Wade. After Roe was overturned, Gov. Whitmer spearheaded a lawsuit aimed at declaring the 1931 law to be in conflict with Michigan's Constitution. That lawsuit is still being resolved. "It's a sad day for rule of law in Michigan," said Attorney David Kallman, who represents prosecutors in Kent and Jackson counties. "There is no constitutional right to abortion under Michigan law right now. The judge ignored that." Click here to read more about this story. Abortion Amendment Petition Riddled with Errors and Typos The "Anything Goes" ballot initiative to enshrine abortion into Michigan's Constitution has been found to contain 43 serious errors that might disqualify it from going to the ballot this November. Sections contain typos such as: "THEREISASIGNIFICANTLIKELIHOOD," "DECISIONSABOUTALLMATTERSRELATINGTOPREGNANCY," and "OFTHEFETUS’SSUSTAINEDSURVIVALOUTSIDETHE." "There's no fixing this confusing gibberish. The amendment must be rejected by the Board of State Canvassers on the 31st," said Christen Pollo, a spokesperson for Citizens Supporting Michigan Women and Children. Click here to read more about this story. Did you know? This amendment would repeal Michigan's partial-birth abortion ban and the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. It also allows late-term abortions. This goes much further than any previous pro-abortion law or policy, allowing for nearly unrestricted abortion access. The "anything-goes" amendment must be stopped if we are to save the lives of tens of thousands of children every year in Michigan.
