As a fourth generation Democrat from Central NY and a Navy veteran, I’ve seen my community — down to the neighborhood I grew up in — decimated by neglect, underinvestment, and inequality. I understand the challenges we face here in Central NY because I have lived through them.

I’m running for Congress to fight for the hard-working middle class, and that fight starts right here: for the neighborhood I grew up in, and for all communities, for better jobs and wages, for access to affordable health care, child care, and housing.

But I am not a multi-millionaire self-funder who can afford to stay hidden while giving my campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars to run TV ads. John, I come from a family of teachers, nurses, social workers, police officers, and veterans. My family taught me what it means to work hard and sacrifice for others; to come together as one community, and persevere when times get tough.

Those values are why I attended the Naval Academy, navigated a warship in the Middle East after 9/11, served in a combat zone in Iraq, and served as a senior intelligence officer at the highest levels of the Department of Defense.

Now, I’m seeing the country I took an oath to protect under threat — we’re facing real threats to our democracy, and even the fundamental right to vote. I swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, and that’s what I will do in Congress.
