John,

I'm delighted to introduce (or re-introduce!) myself to you as your new NDP National Director. I'm grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to take this position for a second time, and to come on board at a time where there's so much for us to build on.

I've been involved in many roles in our party over the past 4 decades as a volunteer, candidate, organizer, spokesperson, campaign director, party president, and in senior staff positions, including Jack Layton's Chief of Staff.

I believe with all my heart that our work as a party makes a big difference to everyday Canadians - who need leaders that side with them over wealthy insiders and big corporations. New Democrats have a long and proud history of fighting hard and smart for the many who are left out.

The larger and stronger our NDP Team is, the more focus there is on the priorities of Canadians who need better health care, affordable housing, climate action, and true reconciliation.

It's no secret that our party faced some challenges in the lead up to the last campaign and that we surprised many who had written us out of the story. Jagmeet Singh was relentlessly positive and strong in articulating the need for change. He made us all stand taller and speak louder.

If you are one of those who lost some enthusiasm in the last few years, I invite you back in. We need you. Our members, supporters, and donors are the backbone of the party. We can't grow the way Canadians need us to without your support, enthusiasm, and participation.

In this minority Parliament, we can be proud of the work our small but mighty and determined Caucus will do to fight for everyday Canadians. Our priorities are evident every single day.

Over the course of the campaign, we grew our movement and inspired millions of Canadians to believe we can have leaders who fight for us. We stood firm on issues that matter to people. But now, we have a lot more work to do together to build on our successes and get election ready.

I know from experience what New Democrats can do when we come together - and I'm positive and optimistic about our prospects.
