Karen discusses our modern world of avian influenza, food poisoning, global warming and genetic engineering. She explores how the expansion of poultry production and consumption is cruel, sickening, and environmentally destructive and offers a compelling argument for adopting a compassionate, plant-based, animal-free diet as an alternative to the warfare waged on defenseless chickens. KAREN DAVIS, PhD is the President and Founder of United Poultry Concerns, a nonprofit organization that promotes the compassionate and respectful treatment of domestic fowl including a sanctuary for chickens in Virginia. Inducted into the National Animal Rights Hall of Fame for Outstanding Contributions to Animal Liberation, Karen is the author of numerous books, essays, articles and campaigns.
