Some of you may know who I am – my name is Dr. Una Clarke, and I’m proud to be the woman who helped raise Yvette and empower her to be the leader she is today.

I want to talk a little bit about our family’s working-class experience and the work Yvette is doing today to make our country more equitable for marginalized communities. But if you want to skip ahead and send in your support to re-elect her this November, you can chip in here: [[link removed]]

Like many of you or your families, I immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. We saw firsthand the poverty and discrimination that is unfortunately present in so many American communities.

With these experiences in mind, thirty years after I moved to Flatbush in 1958, I was elected to the New York City Council – I spent a decade sponsoring legislation on economic development, education, and other issues that have a direct and critical impact on working class people’s lives.

I brought little Yvette to many community meetings in the hopes of instilling these same values in her, and it’s clear that these efforts have made a huge difference. Yvette knows that all Americans should have the opportunity to pursue a better life for themselves, just like her parents did – and tackling income inequality is a huge part of her life’s work.

Since being elected to Congress, Yvette has shown herself to be a dedicated fighter against income inequality, from introducing legislation to make housing more affordable to passing legislation providing assistance to small businesses. And I know that she’ll continue to advocate for the working class of America so that each and every one of us can pursue the American dream.

But she can’t keep up this work without your help, friends. This November, Yvette will be up for re-election, and this people-powered campaign relies on your donations to send her back to Congress. Will you chip in today? [[link removed]]
