Follow NASN on Social ‌ ‌ ‌ President's Message School-based health center staff and school nurses provide a valuable resource for students, families, and communities that experience health disparities such as poor access to health care and poor physical, oral, and mental health outcomes. In many cases, these disparities have been highlighted and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. NASN is partnering with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA) to host Culturally Effective Health Care in Schools Learning Communities to advance health equity by equipping school-based health professionals with strategies to translate culturally effective health care (CEHC) into their policies and practices. Participants will be able to identify ways health disparities, health equity, and equality show up in school communities and create a plan moving forward to apply strategies sustainably into ongoing work. The learning communities are intended for school-based health center staff as well as school-based health professionals. Two cohorts will be convened from September-December 2022 and an additional two cohorts from January-April 2023. If you would like to participate in this learning community please complete the online application by August 19. If you have any questions, please contact Xochitl Salvador at [email protected].
