Last week, we achieved a victory a long time in the making — a federal judge ordered the Biden administration to undo the harms of the
Trump-era Muslim and African Bans and implement an effective visa
reconsideration process for those who were denied family reunification, jobs and
educational opportunities, and medical treatment as a result.

Despite President Biden rescinding Trump’s Muslim and African Bans on his first
day in office, the harms of these discriminatory policies have persisted and are
still impacting families to this day. This ruling will help bring relief to the
families who were torn apart by these bans and who, up until this decision, had
no course of action to end their indefinite limbo.

Issuing the Muslim Ban was one of Donald Trump’s very first actions as President
and NILC has been fighting against it — and every iteration of his Muslim and
African Bans — ever since. In fact, we are the only national organization that sued on every aspect of the
Muslim and African Bans. And now, four years after we first filed our lawsuit,
we’re on a path to justice.
