Statistical Briefing Book Offers Data Snapshot on Trends in Youth Arrests

OJJDP Data Snapshot of Youth Arrest in 2000

OJJDP has updated its Statistical Briefing Book [ [link removed] ] with a new Data Snapshot [ [link removed] ] that shows the decline of youth arrests through 2020. The snapshot draws on national arrest estimates from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The data show the number of arrests involving youth fell 84 percent between 1996 and 2020. The data also show the number of youth arrests for violent crime in 2020 was one-third the number in 2006.

Developed for OJJDP by the National Center for Juvenile Justice [ [link removed] ], the research division of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges [ [link removed] ], the Statistical Briefing Book offers easy online access to statistics on a variety of juvenile justice topics.
