Statistical Briefing Book Offers Data Snapshot on Trends in Youth Arrests
OJJDP has updated its Statistical Briefing Bookwith a new Data Snapshotthat showsthe decline ofyouth arrests through 2020. The snapshot draws on national arrest estimates from theFBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The data show the number of arrests involving youth fell 84 percent between 1996 and 2020. The data also show the number of youth arrests for violent crime in 2020 was one-third the number in 2006.
