Pandemic-induced spikes in consumer demand boosted semiconductor demand by 17 percent between 2019 and 2021. Global sales reached $555.9 billion in 2021, 26.2 percent more than the year before.

88 investigations
According to the latest Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) report, which covers 2020 transactions, there were 187 notices of transactions filed with CFIUS in 2020, out of which CFIUS investigated 88. Of these 88 transactions, CFIUS recommended only one be rejected.
