Hi — I’m writing to share a quick update on my latest work in Congress. As always, please don’t hesitate to drop me a note with any questions or feedback. I hope you and your family are doing well and having a great summer! 


1. Affordability Agenda for Jersey.  All-the Above Approach to Energy.  Fighting Lower Grocery Prices.  

-At ShopRite in Emerson, I announced new steps to combat rising costs at the grocery store to make life more affordable for Jersey families. I’m fighting to address supply chain chokepoints, stand up to meat and poultry monopolists colluding on prices, and support local producers. Read at WRNJ [[link removed]], NJ101.5 [[link removed]]. -As Co-Chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, I had a productive roundtable chat with producers of oil, gas, and clean energy about reducing gas prices. -I’m fighting to cut taxes and repeal the IRS rule blocking state charitable tax deductions. Watch at CNBC [[link removed]]. 


2. Bringing Semiconductor Chip Manufacturing Back to the U.S.

-I’m proud to have helped pass the bipartisan CHIPS Act – a key pillar of my Affordability Agenda and a bill the Problem Solvers Caucus has been fighting for – to invest in American science and technology innovation. Making more semiconductor chips in the U.S. will help lower the costs and increase supplies of everyday items, from cars to ventilators, creating good jobs. 3. Defending the Right to Choose. 

-The Supreme Court’s devastating ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade is a horrific breach of personal privacy and freedom that puts millions of women’s lives and their health at risk. I will always oppose any attempt to roll back the clock and stand between a woman, her doctor, and her faith when making personal health care decisions. -In Congress, I helped pass two new bills to protect a woman’s right to choose. Read at NY Times [[link removed]].


4. Protecting Contraceptive Rights and Marriage Equality. 

-I voted to pass bipartisan, bicameral legislation to protect marriage equality in NJ and nationwide. I will always oppose any attempt to roll back full marriage equality for the LGBT community or discriminate against same-sex and interracial couples. Read at AP News [[link removed]].

-I voted to pass legislation to protect the right to access contraceptives in NJ and nationwide. I’m fighting back against extremist attacks on marriage equality, contraception, and personal privacy, in the wake of the extreme and devastating SCOTUS decision overturning a woman’s right to choose. 5. Combating Gun Violence and Ensuring School Safety.

-I’m proud to have helped pass the first major federal bipartisan gun safety legislation in decades – critical life-saving steps now signed into law. Watch at NJ Spotlight News [[link removed]].

-Following senseless mass shooting tragedies in Buffalo, Uvalde, and others, I stopped in River Edge to announce a Commonsense Strategy to combat gun violence and ensure school safety. Read at WRNJ [[link removed]]. 


6. Tackling Supply Chain Issues -- Including Baby Formula. 

-I visited Port Newark with U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to call for a new “Strategic Shipping Reserve” to move critical goods, proposed new “Ports that Perform” incentives, and toured the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill investments in our ports, Gateway Tunnel, roads, and bridges. -I led a bipartisan group in Congress to successfully call on President Biden to enact the Defense Production Act to boost baby formula production. Read at NJ Globe [[link removed]].

-I helped pass bipartisan legislation to combat supply chain issues and crack down on foreign-owned companies that are price gouging Americans. Read at WRNJ [[link removed]]. 


7. Qualified Stablecoins to Protect Consumers. 

-My new bipartisan stablecoin legislation will boost innovation and protect consumers. Watch at CNBC [[link removed]].

-For crypto to thrive in the U.S instead of overseas, we have to increase certainty and provide the right guardrails. I introduced the Stablecoin Innovation & Protection Act to define qualified stablecoins. Read at The Block [[link removed]]. 


8. Making A Historic Investment in Infrastructure, Jobs, Broadband, Clean Water, and Clean Energy. 

-I’m excited to see real progress moving the Gateway Train Tunnel forward. I helped shape and pass the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill so that critical projects like this would finally get completed. Read at NorthJersey.com [[link removed]].

-I helped break ground on fifty new EV chargers and Volvo’s new state-of-the-art technical training center in Mahwah. Read at Patch.com [[link removed]].  


9. Safeguarding Clean Water, Fighting Climate Change. 

-At Ridgewood Water, I announced my Clean Water Action Plan. Working with local leaders, I’ve clawed back $2.8 million to get lead and dangerous forever chemicals out of our children’s drinking water. Read at NorthJersey.com [[link removed]]. 

-Despite the catastrophic setback of the recent SCOTUS ruling, I’ll keep fighting to combat climate change, transition to alternative energy, and protect our clean and clean water. Read at CNN [[link removed]]. 


10. Improving School Bus Safety.

-I introduced bipartisan legislation – Miranda’s Law – in memory of Miranda Vargas, who was killed in the Paramus bus crash four years ago, to get three-point seat belts on school buses nationwide. Watch at CBS2 [[link removed]]. Read at NJ101.5 [[link removed]]. 


11. Fighting Crime, Investing in Police and Firefighters. 

-In Hackensack, I announced a new critical federal investment clawed back to Jersey to help our local firefighters and EMTs keep us and themselves safe and make our communities more affordable. Read at NJ.com [[link removed]], NJ101.5 [[link removed]], and North-JerseyNews.com [[link removed]]. 

-My bipartisan “Invest to Protect Act” to fund – not defund – our local law enforcement unanimously passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. -Combatting Car Theft: At the Allendale Police Department, I called for federal action including a National Auto Theft Task Force to beef up security and combat violent carjackings and auto theft. Read at NJ.com [[link removed]], North- JerseyNews.com [[link removed]].


12. Fighting Back Against the Carpool Crushing Tax 

-I’m standing up for Jersey commuters and the environment by fighting back against the Port Authority’s ridiculous plan to eliminate the carpool discount. Read at NJ.com [[link removed]]. 


13. Working For Commonsense Bipartisan Solutions — Problem Solvers Caucus.

14. Strengthening America’s Relationship with Our Key Ally, Israel. 

-I joined several of my colleagues on a bipartisan Congressional trip to Israel with AIPAC leadership.

-It was an honor to meet new Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and outgoing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and discuss the importance of the historic U.S.-Israel relationship. Read at Jewish News Syndicate [[link removed]], Jerusalem Post [[link removed]].

-On the heels of President Biden’s visit to Israel, I’m leading a bipartisan group in Congress to push for concrete steps to strengthen the U.S-Israel relationship, combat threats from Iran, and brief Congress on the progress made during the President’s visit. 15. Combating Hate and Antisemitism. 

-I called on the Secretary of Homeland Security to take swift action to combat the growing problem of antisemitism and hate crimes. Read at WRNJ [[link removed]].

-I helped lead the passage of bipartisan legislation condemning the rise in antisemitism. Read at WRNJ [[link removed]]. 

-I’m leading a bipartisan effort to urge an investigation into violent extremists and terrorists using a map to target Jewish organizations. Read at Jerusalem Post [[link removed]]. 


16. Honoring Our Veterans. 

-Ahead of Independence Day, I presented North Jersey veterans with service medals and Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins in recognition of their courageous service to our country. Watch at News12 [[link removed]]. Read at NorthJersey.com [[link removed]], TapInto [[link removed]]. 

-I had the privilege of meeting with local vets at the Sussex County Veterans Appreciation Lunch. Read at West Milford Messenger [[link removed]], WRNJ [[link removed]].

-I’m proud that the House unanimously passed my amendment to support homeless veterans and passed my bipartisan provision to help vets get job training and career services. Read at WRNJ [[link removed]].

-It was great to join the North Jersey community at the Paramus Independence Day Parade, and Memorial Day festivities in Fair Lawn, Teaneck, and New Milford. 


17. Proud and Honored to Receive Endorsements.

-NJ Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association: I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the NJ FMBA! I'll never stop fighting to ensure that our firefighters and first responders have the training, resources, and support they need to protect themselves & our communities. -NJ State Troopers Fraternal Association and National Troopers Coalition: I’m deeply honored to have the support of the National Troopers Coalition and New Jersey State Troopers! Every day, our law enforcement and first responders have our backs. I’m fully committed to always having theirs, including funding — not defunding — the training, tools, and support they need to fight crime and terror and protect themselves and our communities. -U.S. Chamber of Commerce: I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce! I won’t stop advocating for bipartisan, commonsense solutions to lower taxes, support small biz, create jobs and stand up for workers, cut red tape, invest in our infrastructure, ports, & climate resiliency, build the Gateway Train Tunnel, & claw tax dollars back from Washington to NJ. -AAPI for Josh: I was honored to launch AAPI for Josh with the help of Fifth District elected officials, business and community leaders, small business owners, and residents from the Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) community at the Korean Community Center in Tenafly.
