As we head towards 2020, we’re thinking about where we want to be next December.

Dear John,

Imagine , for a moment, that you are the new Executive Director of the LGBTQ advocacy organization in your home state. No matter what kind of experience you’ve had, it’s a big job. Here’s the conversation I almost always have with new EDs:

New ED: “This is a lot. This is hard. I feel overwhelmed.”
Me: “It sure is. It would be weird if you didn’t feel that at least a little bit.”

That’s usually all it takes. Then they can move on to do all of the hard work they’re facing: the hard work to increase equality across the U.S., state by state.

It’s one of the best parts of my job: working with amazing leaders who are putting their heart and soul into changing the laws and lived experiences for LGBTQ people in the communities they call home.

Donate now to support LGBTQ leaders across the country. [[link removed]]

I’m with you - for the long fight ahead.
