John,

Twelve years ago, on July 28, 2010, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution affirming that water and sanitation are fundamental human rights. Yet millions of households in the United States can’t afford safe water for basic everyday needs.

Water rates have skyrocketed across the country for years due to increased corporate privatization of water systems, aging infrastructure, climate change and the loss of federal funding. Our water infrastructure is decaying due to underinvestment, leaving many without access to clean water.

The human right to water shouldn’t be a luxury only available to the few. Food & Water Action is fighting to ensure that every person has access to safe, clean water. You can be a part of our campaign — make a gift to Food & Water Action today. In recognition of the United Nations resolution, all gifts today will be MATCHED $3-to-$1.

We know that industries like fossil fuels and bottled water are diverting and polluting our water supplies. The United Nations warns that two-thirds of the global population could live in water-stressed countries in just a few years. We’re already seeing this here, with a severe drought in the Western United States.

We’re fighting to pass legislation like the WATER Act to make sure our water infrastructure is funded and to clean up our water supplies. And we’re fighting large agriculture companies to stop factory farms from poisoning our waterways.

Join us as we work to fulfill the pledge taken by the United Nations 12 years ago: Water is a human right. Your gift today will go FOUR TIMES as far to ensure everyone has access to clean safe water.
