** Thank you to community members for spreading awareness and for continuing to support our unsheltered neighbors!

Yesterday's Assembly approved funding appropriations for rental unit rehabilitation, emergency shelter, and increased outreach.

These are much-needed resources to work toward safely housing individuals and families experiencing homelessness before the quickly approaching Alaskan Fall and Winter are upon us.

What's next?
We applaud the Assembly members who voted to approve this funding, however, we realize that even after these investments there will still be 578 – 718 people* currently in shelter and programs that will remain in need of housing.

The fight is not over, and we must continue to unite to make homelessness in Anchorage rare, brief, and one-time. Learn more at: aceh.org/support ([link removed])

Why take a population-level approach to homelessness?

Because ending homelessness requires focusing on populations, not programs

For communities in Built for Zero, ending veteran or chronic homelessness are just steps toward ending homelessness for all.

Nevada County, California, knows that no single program or person can solve homelessness on their own, so they’ve redesigned their systems to better respond to the issue. In fact, they’re in the last mile of reaching functional zero for veterans experiencing homelessness.

But once they reach that milestone for veterans, their work isn’t done. In fact, they’ve already made progress on the next target population: people experiencing chronic homelessness. This month, they achieved quality by-name data for this group.

So why do communities start with veteran or chronic homelessness?
