Dear Supporter,
…This June was tied for the hottest in earth's known history.
…The Supreme Court drastically limited the EPA's ability to fight climate change.
…Senator Joe Manchin abandoned his support for climate change investments in the Senate's budget reconciliation bill.
So far, it's been one devastating summer for our planet (and it's only July). That means one thing to all of us at the Sierra Club: We fight back. We fight harder. And we urgently need your help to do it.

PROTECT LANDS AND POWER OUR MOVEMENT >>
When I think of the critical fights ahead of us right now, protecting and expanding our public lands tops the list. It's easy to see why: public lands are the key to all of our fights. If we want to stop the disastrous extinction and climate crises, preserve clean water, clean air, and a stable climate, and help remedy decades of systemic racism and inequitable access to the outdoors that we all have a right to enjoy, we need to protect 30% of our remaining undeveloped natural areas by 2030.It's ambitious. It's also utterly necessary, since public lands in every corner of the country are facing destructive challenges as I write this letter.
In Alaska's incredible Bristol Bay, the mining industry is hellbent on installing an open pit mine a quarter of a mile deep. In the pristine and fragile Arctic, Conoco-Phillips is aiming to pollute the ecosystem with miles of roads and pipelines, drill pads and airstrips. And in Tulsa, the Black-led movement to urge the Biden administration to designate Black Wall Street a national monument faces powerful opponents.
Look, I know that even reading about the crises all around us can be hard. But I also want you to know that as heartbreaking as these situations may be, we can win. When we fight, we win. I know this because I've seen it happen again and again through the Sierra Club's long history of mobilizing masses of ordinary citizens, working with local chapters, waging smart and targeted campaigns that push Congress and state and local governments to protect our planet, and rallying diverse coalitions and partners to speak up, loudly and in unison.
This is exactly the kind of crucial hard work that Wilderness Guardians support every day.

Onward,
