SADIE MAUBET BJORNSEN
The U.S. Ski Team member from Anchorage became the 1st American woman to wear the
yellow bib that goes to the overall World Cup leader. Sadie placed third in the
1.4-kilometer classic sprint on November 29, as she lunged to edge Norway's Ane
Appelkvist by .01 seconds. She followed that up a day later with fourth place in
the 10-kilometer interval start classic race. Those performances were enough to
boost her to the top of the World Cup overall standings.
The winner is selected by a panel each Friday and announced Saturday at 11 a.m.
on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports Radio 590AM and 96.7FM. View past winners here.

Alaska now has five runners who will race the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials next
February in Atlanta.
Megan Youngren of Soldotna joined the party on Sunday with a run of 2 hours, 43
minutes and 52 seconds at the California International Marathon in Sacramento. That
eclipsed the required 2 hours, 45 minutes by 68 seconds.

Anchorage's Maya Carle helped Feather River College make school history by helping
the women's volleyball team win its first tournament title in the California Community
College Athletic Association.
Feather River defeated previously undefeated Irvine Valley in five sets in the championship

Eagle River's Grace Harder recorded her first double-double of the season to lead
the Olympic College women's basketball team to its first win in the NWAC.
The 5-foot-10 freshman scored a season-high 12 points and matched her season high
with 10 rebounds as Olympic beat Grays Harbor 67-30 in Bremerton, Washington.
Harder, of Eagle River High fame, leads her team and ranks in the top 25 of the
NWAC with 8.0 rebounds per game.
She also ranks second on her team at 8.7 points per game.

Two of Alaska's most prolific playmakers this year in college hockey hail from the
same family.
Brothers Kenny Hausinger and Christian Hausinger are among the top scorers from
the state and on their respective teams.

Alev Kelter of Eagle River extended her personal scoring streak to eight games after
producing points in three victories by Team USA Eagles at the World Rugby Sevens
Series in Dubai.
The halfback accounted for 23 of her team's 96 points in wins over Brazil, Russia
and Canada in the early stages of the tournament.
The 2016 Olympian is currently the Dubai tournament's top-ranked player with an
89 rating.

Daniel Hornbuckle of Fairbanks heated up in the second half with 22 of his game-high
28 points for Portland Community College in a 96-85 loss to Lower Columbia in Oregon.
The 6-foot-1 sophomore finished 8-of-16 from the field and 7-of-7 from the free-throw
line.
He added five 3-pointers, five assists and two steals.
Hornbuckle, of West Valley High fame, had a hand in 41 of his team's 85 points.

Despite playing for a last-place club, Wilson's performance has been top shelf.
