ALASKA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

SADIE MAUBET BJORNSEN

The U.S. Ski Team member from Anchorage became the 1st American woman to wear the yellow bib that goes to the overall World Cup leader.  Sadie placed third in the 1.4-kilometer classic sprint on November 29, as she lunged to edge Norway's Ane Appelkvist by .01 seconds. She followed that up a day later with fourth place in the 10-kilometer interval start classic race.  Those performances were enough to boost her to the top of the World Cup overall standings.

The winner is selected by a panel each Friday and announced Saturday at 11 a.m. on the Sports Guys on CBS Sports Radio 590AM and 96.7FM.  View past winners here.
