Social Media Safety Index

This week, GLAAD released its 2022 Social Media Safety Index (SMSI).
As a follow-up to the pioneering 2021 SMSI, the 2022 edition
introduces a Platform Scorecard GLAAD developed in partnership with
Ranking Digital Rights and Goodwin Simon Strategic
Research. After reviewing all five major social media
platforms for measures like explicit protections from hate and
harassment for LGBTQ users, gender pronoun options on profiles, and
prohibiting advertising that could be harmful and/or discriminatory to
LGBTQ people, not a single platform scored over 50 - out of a possible
100. You can read the full report here for a breakdown of each
platform's score, as well as tailored reccomendations for improvement.
