SUDOPB

SUD-OPB Now Seeking Applicants

The Board of Commissioners is accepting applications to fill two three-year terms on the Substance Use Disorder Oversight Policy Board.To be considered, appointee must fall into one of the three categories listed below:


* Public and private SUD prevention, treatment or recovery providers, where conflicts of interest do not exist;
* Individuals directly served by substance use treatment/rehabilitation or prevention programs or otherwise in recovery from a substance use disorder, and individuals with lived experience; and
* The community at large, including civic organizations, the corporate community, representatives from the medical community, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, military veterans, and interested citizens who are willing to advocate for prevention, treatment, and recovery services for persons with, or who are at risk for SUD.

Duties of Substance Use Disorder Oversight Policy Board members include:


* Approving the portion of the Macomb County Community Mental Health Budget for substance use disorder treatment or prevention
* Identifying substance use needs and resources; recommending substance use goals and priorities
* Providing advice and counsel and otherwise aid in the development of coordinated programs and plans for the delivery of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery

Join the Board of Commissioners and Bodhi Seed Yoga and Wellness Studio for its 7th Annual Yoga at the Hill. This is an in-person event at Freedom Hill County Park that takes place under the pavilions - rain or shine!

Promoting healthy lifestyles and the use of County green spaces, this signature event is free to the public and encourages everybody to get out, move and relax. Class offerings, listed below, accommodate all, including children and those who may need modifications.

9:30-10:15 am: Chair Yoga (small pavilion)
10-10:50 am: Intermediate Yoga (main pavilion)

MCPED

MCPED Awarded $250,000 Consumers Energy Foundation Grant

A few of our commissioners attended an exciting event for our friends at Macomb County Planning and Economic Development last month! Their team was presented with a $250,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation as part of the foundation’s Planet Awards initiative. The funds will go towards the Green Macomb Urban Forest Partnership with efforts to double our tree local canopy. The Board approved the budget amendment for this grant at the June Full Board Meeting!

Using the grant dollars, MCPED’S Green Macomb Urban Forest Partnership will plant 1,000 trees, 1,500 shrubs and 40 acres of pollinator habitat! Congratulations to MCPED on this big win for our community and environment!

Governor's Address
Governor's Macomb County Address

Several Commissioners on our Board attended the Governor’s Macomb County Address in June which included a great discussion regarding our County’s business community! Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a bipartisan package of bills at the event to improve childcare making it more dependable, affordable and accessible throughout Michigan.

We Wear Orange Day
Wear Orange Day

Commissioners Matuzak, VanSyckel, Xiong and Zinner attended the Wear Orange Day event to honor and pay their respects to victims and survivors of gun violence.

June 3rd now marks National Gun Violence Awareness Day and, further, encourages all citizens to support their communities’ efforts to prevent the tragic effects of gun violence and to honor and value human lives. The Macomb County Board of Commissioners renews our commitment to reduce gun violence and pledge to do all we can to keep firearms out of the wrong hands, and encourage responsible gun ownership to help keep our children safe.
