You may not know this, but the overwhelming majority of contributions to our campaign come from online donors. I’ll be the first to admit, emails like this can get annoying, but they’re a critical part of the work we’re doing to replace Ron Johnson with someone who can actually be trusted to do what's right for working families.

Something strange has happened... My campaign staff says our fundraising totals are significantly lower compared to last month. Fewer people are opening these messages, and even fewer are pitching in lately. I’m not surprised to hear this.

Most campaigns expect a so-called “summer slump” where their numbers start to dip as the weather warms up because folks are spending time outdoors and away from their inbox. The problem is, this slump has hit us at a bad time.

Ron Johnson has been flooding the airwaves a lot earlier than anyone expected, and Mitch McConnell’s Super PAC just booked $15 million on TV in Wisconsin. Political experts are calling our race one of only two Senate seats most likely to flip this year, so we have to make a difficult decision about going back up on the air with our TV ads.

Our race has shot “to the top of Senate Republicans' defensive priorities” because Democrats have a good chance to flip this seat. In fact, I’m the only Democrat beating Ron Johnson in EVERY public poll. That means we can’t let the GOP drown us out on the airwaves. But TV ads are expensive, and going back up on the air can create a significant hole in our budget.
