Hello —
You may not know this, but the overwhelming majority of contributions to our campaign come from online donors. I’ll be the first to admit, emails like this can get annoying, but they’re a critical part of the work we’re doing to replace Ron Johnson with someone who can actually be trusted to do what's right for working families.
Something strange has happened though... My campaign staff says our fundraising totals are significantly lower compared to last month. Fewer people are opening these messages, and even fewer are pitching in lately. Frankly, I’m not surprised to hear this.
Most campaigns expect a so-called “summer slump” — when numbers start to dip as the weather warms up because folks are spending more time away from their inboxes. The problem is, this slump has hit us at a particularly bad time.
Ron Johnson has been flooding the airwaves since launching his re-election campaign, and Mitch McConnell’s Super PAC has already booked $15 million on TV in Wisconsin. Experts say our race is one of only two Senate seats likely to flip from red to blue this year, so we have a difficult decision to make about going back up on the air with our own TV ads.
Look, our race just shot “to the top of Senate Republicans' defensive priorities” because this is a seat we can flip. I’m the only Democrat beating Ron Johnson in EVERY public poll right now, and I need your help to make sure we've got enough resources to compete with the GOP and grow our polling lead — or risk falling behind.
I would really appreciate it if you could rush a donation of any amount toward our July fundraising goal ahead of the mid-month deadline. Every dollar allows us to build a campaign strong enough to beat Ron Johnson and stop Republicans from taking back the Senate. You can donate here:
Thank you for standing with me and supporting my campaign. We’ve got a great team of people in Wisconsin ready to flip this Senate seat and give our workers and families someone they can trust to do right by them in Washington.
That’s what I intend to do as Senator — so long as I can count on your help. I appreciate anything you’re willing to give.
Thanks so much.
