Meet Our Convention Host and DJ!
[link removed] [[link removed]] Ernest Owens (NLC Philadelphia '19) is a professional storyteller, and couldn’t be a more fitting host for our Convention, themed “Where Stories Become Action.” And as the Editor at Large of Philadelphia Magazine, he has a pulse on all things Philly. Ernest is the president of the Philadelphia Association of Black journalists, a longtime member of Philadelphia Community Access Media, and a Board of Governor for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Mid-Atlantic Chapter). As a Black queer media mogul, his advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the industry is changing the narrative of what stories get told and whose voices are heard.

From humble beginnings of a bedroom hobby, to performing in front of millions on VH1’s Master of The Mix, DJ Royale has entertained from Rome to Havana. He’s performed alongside legends like Jazzy Jeff, Questlove, Lil Jon, The Black Eyed Peas, and Kool & The Gang.
DJ Royale, Convention DJ Rooted in Philly soul and shaped by global sounds, DJ Royale continues to transcend the limits of genre and forge a lane all unto his own.
