Hi, friend,
At NLC, fun is fundamental. That’s because sustaining a movement for progress requires self-care and building community trust. One way we do that is through having a good time together. At NLC Conventions of the past, we’ve gathered for karaoke and awards ceremonies, and while we are continuing those traditions, this year’s events will be like none we’ve ever had before.

Ernest Owens, Convention Host NLC Philadelphia ‘19 Award-winning journalist |
|
Ernest Owens (NLC Philadelphia '19) is a professional storyteller, and couldn’t be a more fitting host for our Convention, themed “Where Stories Become Action.” And as the Editor at Large of Philadelphia Magazine, he has a pulse on all things Philly. Ernest is the president of the Philadelphia Association of Black journalists, a longtime member of Philadelphia Community Access Media, and a Board of Governor for the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Mid-Atlantic Chapter). As a Black queer media mogul, his advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the industry is changing the narrative of what stories get told and whose voices are heard.
