I’m campaigning for an end to food poverty in the US. Will you join me?

Global Citizen,

Over 40 million Americans are struggling to put food on the table right now.
We have to do better.

My name’s Barbie and I know what it’s like to live in food poverty. Growing
up, I relied on school lunch programs, food stamps that ran out before the
month’s end, and the kindness of our neighbors.

No family in America should have to live worrying about where the next meal
is going to come from. But the food access situation in the US is getting worse,
not better. Food banks across the country are struggling to meet the rise in
need, and high prices are hitting families hard.

I’ve dedicated my life to fighting food poverty – combating the stigmas that
shadow this injustice and prevent people from standing up for their rights.

Now, in the face of the growing crisis, President Biden is hosting the first
US conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in over 50 years – and the US
public needs to have their say!

Tell the White House how food poverty is affecting you and your community.

All too often food support programs are created without the input of the
communities and families they impact. I’m asking for your help to collect your
experiences of food and nutrition hardship affecting you or your community and
what you’d like the White House to do about it.

I’ll be handing your responses over to the US government next week. Join me
and speak out to make your experience heard.

In solidarity,
Barbie Izquierdo, Global Citizen US Prize Winner, US Food Poverty Activist

P.S. I’ll be hosting a listening session on the state of food poverty in the
US next Wednesday, July 13. Join me to hear from some incredible speakers and
