It is an honor to represent Texas' 23rd Congressional District. In Washington, D.C., I am prioritizing policies and legislation that address your concerns and protect our liberties. Most importantly, I am here to serve you. Below are some highlights from my recent work on issues that are important to you. My team and I are always accessible to you by phone or through our website. Please feel free to contact my office directly with any questions or concerns. Hosted a Meeting With TX-23 Superintendents to Discuss School Safety Recently, I hosted a meeting with 22 Superintendents from across the 23rd Congressional District of Texas to discuss education, school safety, and federal grant programs in light of the recent tragedy in Uvalde. School start dates are approaching rapidly, and it is crucial that we return to the classroom this Fall semester with a plan. Thank you to all the superintendents who participated. Introduced the UNITED Act Underserved communities, like Uvalde, are desperately in need of mental health resources-- now and well into the future. Unfortunately, mental health clinicians and facilities in these communities are few and far between, and patients often must drive multiple hours roundtrip for access to inpatient care. That’s why I am proud to introduce the Undertaking Needed Investments in Therapy, Education, and De-Escalation (UNITED) Act to address the mental health crisis in America. In particular, this legislation seeks to deliver funding to nine key areas including youth suicide prevention efforts, crisis care response and coordination, a lifeline crisis call center program, the extension of emergency telehealth services, and increased access to pediatric mental health care access grants. Honored Uvalde Victims in the U.S. Capitol Friday, June 24th marked one month since the tragedy in Uvalde. To remember the students and teachers we lost, I set up a display in the U.S. Capitol for my colleagues to honor the victims. Our community continues to grieve the 21 lives that ended due to this senseless act of violence. Rep. Tony Gonzales | Website Rep.
