New data from researchers at WRI and University of Maryland shows that 130.9 million hectares of land gained tree cover between 2000 and 2020 — an area larger than Peru. While the world is still losing more forests than it’s growing, hotspots of tree cover gain can inform restoration efforts. ​​​​Learn more
