1.  *Starting July 1, IRS increases mileage rate for remainder of 2022*

The IRS announced an increase in the optional standard mileage [ [link removed] ] rate for the final 6 months of 2022 in recognition of recent gasoline price increases. Taxpayers may use the optional standard mileage rates to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business and certain other purposes, effective *July 1, 2022*.

The announcement also includes the new rate for deductible medical or moving expenses (available for active-duty members of the military).

The IRS recently announced its expanded voice bot options [ [link removed] ] to help eligible taxpayers easily verify their identity to set up or modify a payment plan, while avoiding long wait times.

The agency has been using voice bots on numerous toll-free lines since January, allowing taxpayers with simple payment or notice questions to get what they need quickly and avoid waiting.
